Clouds Media Group, is a multinational-multimedia company and one of the leading media houses in all of East and Central Africa. Clouds which stands for Cool, Loveable, Outrageous, Unique, Dynamic Sound was established in 1998 by Joseph Kusaga and Ruge Mutahaba.

Inspired by the music scene in Los Angeles, Kusaga connected with his life-long business partner, Ruge Mutahaba, and they began planning a radio station for Tanzania that would soon become Clouds FM. It started with one radio station studio the size of a small closet. From that, Clouds grew and blossomed into an organization that spans all broadcast media, events management, marketing and digital platforms.

Today, Group runs three radio stations: Clouds FM which is referred to as the “The People’s Station”; Choice FM, the English entertainment station designed for Tanzania’s young professionals who were schooled overseas and have now returned; and Coconut FM which is broadcasting from Zanzibar.

Clouds empire also owns nine TV stations, including Clouds TV, a 50-Channel Cable/DTT TV Network, OTT platform, event marketing firm, Ngoma web Tv and Kitangoma magazine. Especially Clouds FM and Clouds TV belong today to the most listened to and most watched media outlets in the country. The Group with over 300 employees has its presence in East and Central Africa, the Middle East and the Caribbean having opened offices in Kingston Jamaica.

There is a company profile for Clouds Television at the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), according to which Alex Mkama hold 25% of the shares, just as much as Joseph Kusaga. Clouds Entertainment Limited holds 50% of shares. The current shareholders of Clouds Entertainment are Joseph M. Kusaga (50%), Judith Violet Kusaga (10%), Sheba Martha Kusaga (10%), Dogan Andrew Kusaga (10%), Joyce Alex Kusaga (5%), Alex Justine Kusaga (5%), and Prisca Mkama Kusaga (10%).

Ruge Mutahaba today still is Director of Strategy and Programs Development at Clouds Media Group.
