Michuzi Blog is amongst the first Tanzanian online blogs to be established and it is dealing with current news dissemination to Tanzanians and abroad. It uses Kiswahili and mostly covering news stories from politicians, government officials and society in general. It was launched in 2005.
Michuzi Blog covers mainly issues related to politics and among the online advertising agency as compared to other blogs in the country. According to a GeoPoll media consumption survey (Aug 30 – Sep 1st, 2018), Michuzi Blog is read by XX.XXX% of the Tanzanian audience and XX.XXX% in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro.
According to the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (2018) Michuzi Blog is a family ownership property whereby, Muhidin Issa Michuzi holds 50% of the shares, Ahmad Issa Michuzi 10%, Othman Adam Michuzi 10 %, and Christopher Mtakyawa Makwaia having 15 Shares. It is not indicated who holds the remaining 15% shares.
Photo journalist Muhidin Issa Michuzi founded the company with his brothers Ahmad and Othman and acts as Chairman and CEO, according to his Facebook profile. There a almost no information about Christopher Mtakyawa Makwaia. The shareholders also operate as directors according to the BRELA company profile.
The company registered office is at Namanga along Alli Hassan Mwinyi Road, Plot no. 14/13 Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam. According to BRELA (2018), the company’s annual return has not been filed for consecutive five years from 2013 to date.
