Dr. Gideon H Kaunda

According to a returned questionnaire from Econet which operates the media outlet TV1 Tanzania, Gideon Kaunda holds 10% shares in the media company. However, documents from BRELA shows he holds 75 Class A shares.

Dr Gideon H. Kaunda is a Corporate Lawyer and Communications and Transport Specialist with vast experience in project development and legal advisory services. He is currently the Chairman of Pangaea Securities (EA) Ltd and services as ad hoc Arbitrator at the International Court on Aviation and Space Aviation (IASA). He sits on the Board of the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) as Chairman of the Membership Services and Capacity Building Sub-Committee.

Previously, Dr Kaunda worked as Principal Assistant Counsel and Legal Advisor to the East African Community for eight years (1969-1977) after which he was appointed Representative of the Government of Tanzania on the Council of the Internation Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for a term of six years.

Dr Kaunda rejoined the Government in 1984 and took up various consultancy assignments with the PTA (COMESA), The World Bank, The European Union, among others, prior to being seconded as Special Assistance to the Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Air.

Dr. Gideon Kaunda holds an LLB from the University of East Africa (Dar es Salaam College), LLM and PhD degrees from the McGrill University, Montreal, Canada.
