Dr. Anthony Diallo
Dr. Anthony Diallo, a politician and former Member of Parliament, is the founder of Sahara Media Group Limited, an umbrella of Star TV, Radio Free Africa and Kiss FM, a media house operating from Mwanza. While there is no ownership data on Sahara Media Group available at the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), several websites refer to Diallo as the Chairman and CEO of the company.
Dr. Diallo, who today is the Mwanza Regional Party Chairman of the ruling Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM), was a Member of Parliament representing Ilemela constituency in Mwanza from 1995 to October 2010, when he lost to the opposition Chama cha Maendeleo (CHADEMA) candidate.
He had served in different capacities in the cabinet from 2000 to 2008. He served as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister for Water and Livestock and Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism.
Dr. Diallo’s area of specialization include e-Business, e-Government and systems implementation. He has over 20 years’ experience in the field of manufacturing, procurement and production planning.
Before indulging in the media business in 1992, Dr. Diallo was a co-founder of DM investment Co. Ltd, one of the largest engineering manufacturing entities in the country.
The company which was wound up in 1994 manufactured Sahara brand of electrical appliances, agricultural machinery, single stroke diesel engines and industrial machineries for the agricultural processing industries.
Dr Diallo was born on 25th of December 1956 and holds a Bachelor of Science (BS-eB) Degree in e-Business from the University of Phoenix, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Newcastle, a Master of International Management degree from the University of Phoenix (MM-I) and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from the University of Newcastle (2008).
He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management from Maastricht School of Management, NL and an alumnus of the Advanced Management Program of the Harvard Business School, Boston, USA (1994).
